Desperately I lament this frigid climate zone

Frost bite

Your car won’t start
Can’t get to work
You know your boss
Is going to go berserk

Temperature is zero, wind chill even lower
This ferocious winter is its own snowthrower
Salt trucks congest traffic further and increase my dread
Have to strap on snowshoes just to go buy bread

The thermostat
At sixty-one
Shivering in fear
That the bill will come

[And the wind dies while a force greater than nature parts the clouds
For the sun to dance its sparkling rays on the glistening, majestic surface.
My soul is warmed by the frozen beauty. I stand in awe, surreal, spectacular, spiritual. . .]

Snow to my knees as it flies in the breeze, I’ll be completely encased in the freeze
My legs are now numb I’m unable to run, only to wait for the cold death to come
The drifting grows higher, my status is dire, the cold has become as the feeling of fire
Now to my chin, the end will begin, me versus winter and I shall not win. . . .
